Heart Meridian

According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and is a major cause of disability. The most common heart disease in the United States is coronary heart disease, which often appears as a heart attack. About every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event.

 The common knowledge of keeping a healthy heart is to eat healthy food, maintain adequate amount of exercise, and stay in good mood etc. There are additional helps that every body can benefit from, they are always ready and they live in our body. They are the two meridians related to the heart: the heart meridian and the pericardium meridian.

 The heart meridian starts from the heart, goes up and comes out of the armpit, then along the inner side of the arm, drops down to the hand, ends at the tip of the little finger (please refer to the heart meridian chart). The heart meridian is the energy supplying channel for the heart, regularly massaging along the heart meridian can prevent heart diseases. It can minimize the chances of a heart attack, enhance mood, clarify mind, and prevent and relieve depression. A healthy heart meridian also lets you rest well during the night.

 The pericardium meridian is the channel to provide energy for the pericardium. The pericardium is a double-walled sac that contains the heart and the roots of that great vessel. It maintains the heart in its normal position and safeguards the heart from infection and reduces external friction, therefore, the pericardium is heart’s protector, and so is the pericardium meridian. Massaging the pericardium meridians keeps energy and blood circulating well and keeps the heart with a good amount of energy. It also helps to reduce fat build-up in the arteries and decreases the chances for heart disease. When massaging this meridian, do not use too much force, not to exceed one’s comfort level.
